Hello everybody,

I think, this should be a Paragus sp., maybe bicolor or flammeus? And can someone determine it even closer? Length about 5 mm. These little flies I see seldom, but exclusively on the flowers of Pastinaca sativa.

Location: Germany, Rhineland-Palatinum, 53572 Unkel, river Rhine valley, Stux hill, dry and warm habitat (grapeyards), 26. 07. 2017.

Thanks in advance,m

Michael

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
