I would say bumblebee mimic Smile

Probably Merodon equestris, see the venation of the wings. But check, wheter there is another species with sinusoide r4+5.

Many thanks Treebeard, certainly that species. Not the best images, taken in shade without ring flash. We only have one Meredon species, an import in Victorian times with daffodil bulbs.

Hmm, 'The image you are requesting does not exist or is no longer avialble.' That is the problem you may get when linking to external images for ID and then renaming them...

Zoinks! You've taken a wrong turn.
Let's split up, gang. If you're looking for an image, it's probably been deleted or may not have existed at all.

Perhaps the images (a) still in the cache of your page; (Cool are only visible to members [who are logged in?]; (c) are only shown regionally (like BBC does not display clips outside the UK).

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
