Good evening,

I would really appreciate your help in the identification of the attached fly (?).
The photos were taken last year, on the 23rd of July, on a brook, near Sintra, Lisbon, Portugal.
Thanks in advance for your help in this.
Kind regards,

Fernando

Hallo,

I would say, Stratiomys singularior, Stratiomyidae.
Best regards,
Jürgen

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
