Hi,
this fly I found on the 5th of November on an iron railing in the hills north of Vienna, Austria. My guess is that it couldn't be bigger than 5mm, but I've been wrong with my estimations before. This fly took off as soon I got this one photo. But I hope that the big eyes may lead to some form of identification.
Thank you und best regards,
Konrad

I'd say a Platypezidae. Change the title and wait for help.

Thanks, Theo,
that's a welcome start!
Best regards,
Konrad
P.S. Could it be Callomya speciosa?
