Hi, this is the second time I have spotted this hoverfly species sitting on the bark of trees. Is it Brachypalpoides sp. (because of the all black legs)? Or rather a Xylota sp.? Length approx. 10-12mm Germany, Niedersachsen, Tister Bauernmoor (peat bog), 27th August 2016 (please see reply for a lateral view ) Thanks!
