Hello to all,
this animal looks pretty much like Tipula varipennis, I think, only I miss the red-brown colour at the upper side of its legs. Length (rough guess) about 20-25mm. Can anybody tell me what species it is?

Location: Tennengebirge (30 kms south of Salzburg, Austria), altitude about 2100m above sea level (summit region)
Date: 14th of July, 2007

Thanks a lot
Rupert

Hello again,
somehow something didn't work with the image, so I try again.

Please, keep this in mind from the Forum Code of Conduct:
* Please, put images in the message itself rather than only providing links to (internet pages with) the images. For practical reasons it is better to have the actual images in the thread discussing a certain species or subject rather than having them in separate windows.

I'm sorry, I tried, but it didn't work. But I think I know now what was the problem, so hopefully next time I'll manage to do it correctly.

Greetings
