I took this 5mm long muscid on 9 May, swept from coastal grasses in N Scotland. I am unable to determine a genus with confidence, but I hope the two long robust costal spines and the heavily infuscated cross-veins might allow someone to suggest a genus at least. Thanks, Stephane. That is the second vote I have had for Helina, and maculipennis looks good. I have always found it difficult to recognise Helina as a genus, for some reason. M. |
