Hi All! Catched this Cheilosia sp. two days ago in Austria at the edge of the forest. It was hovering very fast and close to the floor. Can anybody identify it? Thanks, Helge helge attached the following image: [199.2Kb] Edited by helge on 23-04-2016 21:08 |

I have never seen a specimen like this. I believe it is a female of C. grossa with super dark, non standard patterns on wings. Is that found in high mountain area? Robert |

Hi Robert! I found that species in a heat priviledged forrest with fluff oaks at about 450m. Claus C. told me it´s probably C. subpictipennis or C. pictipennis. My result is C. cf. subpictipennis. Saludos, Helge |
