Hi Louis,

This looks like Chymomyza amoena to me. As far as I know that would be the second time this species is found in The Netherlands. Or isn't it from The Netherlands?

See "Jong, H.de & J.W.A. van Zuijlen, 2003. Chymomyza amoena (Diptera: Drosophilidae) new for The Netherlands.? Entomologische Berichten Amsterdam 63(4): 103-104."

Indeed, you actually gave me a reprint of that paper! It's Chymomyza amoena alright. There was a vague trace in my memory about a picture-winged Drosophila, and that's why I collected it from my kitchen. I made large windows in the roof of my kitchen, which since then wiorks as a perfect fly trap!

thanks, Louis
