Hi,

to me this one looks like H. groenlandicus, but I'm not sure if Northern Germany belongs to the "Northern Holarctic" (in fact I don't really think so), where this species seems to live. So what it this, can someone help?

Thank you!
Lennart

Anasimyia lineata seems more probable indeed. It has a prominent snout (which seems to make the triangular shadow) and orange antennae. Helophilus groenlandicus is absent from Germany according to Fauna Europaea. Its face looks very different and has a shining black stripe; the antennae are dark.
Views from different angles would be helpful!
Regards, Sundew

Alright, thank you both, that sounds good! I hadn't even heard of that genus at all ;-). Thank you very much for the explanation, Sundew, it's quite plausible.
I just got one more picture of it.

Greetings, Lennart
