Hello, last but not least for today a very small Anthomyiid (?). Only about 3 mm, at ash trunk near forest (northwest Germany). Possibly Egle sp.? Does it have a Fannia-like subcosta? In Anthomyiidae that character is limited to Calythea, which (in America) are normally more strongly marked. |

Hello John, John Carr wrote: Does it have a Fannia-like subcosta? I'm sorry, but this is the best (and only...) photo I have. In Anthomyiidae that character is limited to Calythea, which (in America) are normally more strongly marked. I Germany we only have Calythea nigricans and pratincola according to "Entomofauna germanica". Fannia molissima very probable. It's a pity we can't see the abdomen.

Personally I think this is again one of the smaller Egle species. Lower facial margin seems projected, and the orbital plates are touching on top.... Johanna Edited by javanerkelens on 23-03-2015 10:39 |

Thanks, Johanna. I hope, I'll get some better pictures these days (but there is lot of rain prognosed...).
