Hello,

can someone identify this about-1-cm-long syrphid fly? It was attracted to light. I thought of Episyrphus balteatus at first, but this doesn´t seem correct to me by now.

Location: Germany, Rhineland-Palatinum, 53572 Unkel, river Rhine valley, Stux hill, dry and warm habitat (grapeyards),09. 01. 2015.

Thanks in advance,

Michael

Could be an Episyrphus balteatus intersex: eyes separated but a rather narrow frons, darkish appearance all-over.
