Hi,
these pictures were taken on 23 and 24 June at Kyritz lake in Brandenburg, Germany. Could it be N. brunnipes or even N. aquatica?

Many thanks for a reply!

Hans

Last photo - antennae yellow in basal coloration, cheeks narrow, anterior tibiae yellowish, darkened, abdominal tergites with 4 dark spots - more likely Notiphila riparia. N. aquatica has black tibiae and yellow antennae.
First photo - antennae black with apical segment yellowish from inside, all tibiae black, more likely Notiphila brunipes. Smile

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
