I ran through a number of possibilities for this fly, but have finally settled on Sepsidae as my best guess. Is that what this is? The fly was photographed in a wetland less than 0.5 km from the Pacific Ocean, in Oregon USA. Length about 5 mm from the front of the eyes to the rear of the wings. Date 13 May 2007.
