Hello, Joe!

The first one is no Diptera (you can clearly see the four wings), but Hymenoptera, Symphyta.

No. 2 is a Syrphid, probably genus Xylota, No. 3 and 4 are Sarcophagidae.
Best regards,
Jürgen

Hello Joe,

It would help if you would indicate the whereabouts of the sites where the pictures were taken. The Xylota resembles X. segnis very much, but that does not count for much if you are in North America. Wink

Hi,

sorry about that.
The photo's where taken in Gent, Belgium. At a place where forest turns into meadow. It's a very sunny place. No lake, pond or anything with water is around. Just high gras (50 cm)
Much beech.

Thanks already!
Bye, Joe
