France. Pyrenees. Gavarnie. 11/8/13 alt. 2200m. Hill-topping. I think this is Nowickia strobelii, a lesser known mountain species. Differs from other Nowickia sp. by the pale lateral T1/2, black cheek hairs and the syncercus which is not domed and is broad when viewed ventrally. I found just one specimen among many N. reducta. It is quite worn in comparison, so flight season may be earlier. Also orange colour is paler - may be worth using this as a character in the field to select from N. reducta?
