Taken in Soria, N Spain on July the 28th 2013. Found sitting on a leaf by a rivulet in woodland in river canion. I think it is Elgiva sp. but I need confirmation as I have no experience with this genus. Any chance of getting the species? Thanks for whatever help that can be provided

Thanks a lot, Nikita!! The moment you say it is Illione I suddenly see why I was wrong. Too many spots on vein M? Please, confirm this is the ID tip. I have many problems to separate those two genera

Hi Piluca. Formally Illione has subalar seta, not visible on photo and posterior crossvein less curved than in Elgiva, but it is also hardly visible. To many spots on the wing? Yes. But my jizz was the shape of antenna - too long and too narrow for Elgiva. Nikita Vikhrev - Zool Museum of Moscow University |
