Hi Today I caught this smallish Dolichopus sp. It was swept from coastal vegetation on the small island Amager close to Copenhagen. Using Grichanov's key I end up with Dolichopus latilimbatus, but it isn't a perfect match. According to the key the species should have a finely haired face, but this specimen doesn't. If it has it is so fine I can't see it! However, it has two dorsal setae on basitarsus 3 and frons metallic green and antennae entirely black with a bit of reddish infuscation beneath. Is D. latilimbatus okay, or have I missed something? Walther Gritsch attached the following image: [166.31Kb] Edited by Walther Gritsch on 13-07-2013 12:08 Walther |

It is not latilimbatus. Why not albifrons?

The reason I didn't consider albifrons was that frons in this specimen isn't exactly white pollinose. It is sub-shining green with white pollinosity. The antennae aren't all black either. What do you think? Still albifrons after all... Regards, Walther Gritsch attached the following image: [157.7Kb] Walther |

Yes, indeed! Why not... Scape and pedicel are brownish yellow beneath and the wing tips are darkened apically. I'll record it as Dolichopus sabinus. Thanks, guys. Walther |

Dolichopus sabinus I found a good number of these in coastal scrub in Hanehoved near Frederiksværk. Denmark last month |
