Dear all,

this fly appeared really golden coloured, while drinking drops on blackberry leaves.

Found in garden, rhine valley, Southwest Germany, june, 24th, 2013, 8mm long.
As I, personally, could not find anything similar in diptera.info gallery or elsewhere, I admit, that I did not reach further than to family Tachinidae.
Jürgen Peters from insektenfotos.de had a great idea without guarantee, but now I am so nasty to kindly ask you for your opinion without using his suggestion in my request here ;-).

Thanks in advance for taking a look at this.

Best regards,

Thorsten

Ahh, are you thinking Senometopia? Good point. The eyes are huge and Carcelia-like but this is a genus I see incredibly rarely.

Dear Chris, dear Erikas,

thanks a lot for your genus identification! So I`ll save it as Senometopia sp.

Best regards

Thorsten

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
