Hello!

This tiny 2 mm fly came to the light last night (Ostwestfalen/Germany, 4-5 ?C). I'm not sure, whether it is Drosophila obscura again (numerous here in the last weeks before the frost), it seems more slender, with a bigger head.

A male of the D. obscura grouP: the two 'sex combs' (on the first and second tarsal segment of the fore tarsus) are well visible.

Many thanks! I had already speculated that it was more slender, because it was a male :-).
Best regards,
Jürgen

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
