Greetings, everyone, sorry I have been away so long. I am looking forward to lots of posts this Spring!

I photographed this fly on November 26 at a Sugar Maple tree that was oozing sap.

Genus Drosophila perhaps? Or best just to say Drosophilidae?

I'll post two more pictures.

Any ID help appreciated.

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
