I made this observation on April 15 2026, and it appears this may be the first recorded sighting in Vienna. The iNat platform does not yet list any such record for Vienna, and according to Erwin Lindner’s *The Flies of the Palearctic Region* (1923), the species is listed as doubtful for Vienna. Otherwise, no records from Austria are known. So my question is: Is this reliably a Chetostoma curvinerve? And if so, is this species known from Vienna or Austria in general? More photos and near Information to the observation can you find here: https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/350038804 Thank you for your expert identification assistance. Hi Zuzana, wing venation (your 3rd image) looks good for C. curvinerve, but the very strong developed bristles on the mouth edge are not visible or do not exist... John T.
