Thx Roger !

How do you tell the difference between:

Dexia vacua, Dexia rustica and Dexiosoma caninum ?

Me personally, I haven't got a clue awkward. I only take photographs of flies and leave the ID'ing to the experts here on Diptera. info. I suggest you ask ChrisR or Theo Zeegers. Smile

Dexiosoma is usually best distinguished by the head - the eyes to me always seem smaller in relation to the gena and frons than in Dexia/Dinera. The head shape is also a bit different. Have a look in the gallery and compare images there Smile

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
