All my photos of Mycetophilids so far have been on black ones.

Have I got the family right on this orange fly, Mycetophilidae?

4 October 2006, beside a very small stream, woodlands, West Virginia USA. Size not recorded, but small.

Most likely a Mycetophila species.

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
