Seems a Hammerschmidtia ferruginea to me... don't know if ingrica might occur in Canada, but that species has short haired arista, whereas ferruginea has plumose arista. http://syrphidae....ages/25935 Edited by Andre on 17-11-2011 20:33 |

Thanks Andre, That's the one I had spotted as a possible. I'll check my other photos for "plumosity" BTW, is Hammershmidtia the currently accepted name ? Philippe A beautiful hypothesis can be slain by an ugly fact. |
