Hi

Switzerland, 26.10.2011, 430 msm, on balcony

We do have a lot of Rhingia campestris (a lot of cows nearby). Could this pale Rhingia be a R.rostrata?

any help would be very welcome,
kind regards, Brigitte

Hi André

not collected.
It's very hard for me to kill a hoverfly only to know its name. Even if I don't know afor if the fly could be ID'd by photo only.
Is there any detail (visible be photo) to make sure about R.campestris /R.rostrata?
Adding a (bad) pic from arista . . .

Anyway, thanks a lot for your help!
Kind regards, Brigitte

I still think it is campestris, even if it's lighter. The extra pic doesn't really help more.
