? Chamaepsila atra og another. looks like 8 dc-bristles (4 pair) - very dark tibia and tarsus.

What is difference between Chamaepsila atra and C. nigra (? C. morio) ?

From Isfjorden, Møre og Romsdal, Norway. 17. july 2005

[edit 5. nov 2011 - It,s C. atra]

Chamaepsila is difficult, and to see the male genitalia might be of use. Perhaps the key http://books.goog...mp;f=false is helpful...

I stil have a lot of Psilidae questions as:
- What is difference between Chamaepsila atra and C. nigra (? C. morio) ?
- What is difference between Chamaepsila limbatella and Chamaepsila persimilis?

Well, the link is ok Smile. On p. 185 of the key you find C. limbatella (No. 18), on the following page C. persimilis (No. 25), and on p. 187 you have C. atra, C. nigra, and C. morio from No. 35 downwards (all as Psila, however, seems to be old taxonomy). As you have the dead specimens, the keyed characters should be recognizable...

Yes, I know, also about the old taxonomy. But my book is missing page 186-189. The last is p. 185 with C. limbatella. I have try to reload it, but.... some day I hope. Thanks. Smile

Dear Halvard, that's strange! When I click on that link, I can read the complete 57th family Psilidae (pages 184-191), no pages missing. If you really cannot open it, I could make some screenshots for you.

WinkGrin I open the link in Internet explorer. I can read the missing pages!! Thanks. In Mosilla firefox it was hidden. I have not look for the rest of the book. Some pages are hidden because 'copyright', it seems like the different browsers show different pages... I think.

According to my key morio has three pairs of dorsocentrals and atra has four. In that case, the above species should be atra.

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
