Not sure which family, it reminds me of Heleomyzidae and also Scathophagidae, or is it none of the above? ID help would be appreciated!

Photographed 11 November 2006 at Sugar Maple sap, woodlands, West Virginia USA.

Length from front of eyes to rear of wings is 8.8 mm.

Tried to attach an image to a forum post. jpg, 32kB, 72dpi, no blanks, ... File name is correctly displayed, but when I click "Preview Thread" it just vanishes. Help!
