I've been through several different possibilities as to what these moving sticks could be. They are present each year on some lime trees in kings wood, heath and reach, bedfordshire, UK. this one photographed june 2005. unfortunately i don't have an image of the creature inside - next year perhaps if they are cooperative.

Looks indeed pretty much like a case of Psyche casta. Check Ian Kimber's site, http://ukmoths.or.../index.php, there's a very impressive collection of Psychidae pictures. |

Thanks for that, one of the images on the page you refer to was taken at the same place I took mine and looks very similar. |
