Hello!

insekteninfos.de/diptera/0306/Merodon_volucella.jpg

This fly picture I took two days ago here in Ostwestfalen/Germany. Is it a dark individual of Merodon equestris (I would say so from the wing venation) or maybe Volucella bombylans? Both species were very abundant here in the last weeks. Most Merodons however were more typically coloured:

Thank you for any hints!
Best regards,
Jürgen

The wing venation is reliable in that respect, this is Merodon equestris.

I can no longer send private messages (and maybe not receive?), even though my inbox and outbox are not yet full. I write, click "send" and they disappear and never show up in the outbox.
