Hello, This was ~1.5mm, taken on 14th September 2009 in my garden near Lincoln UK. I found one which looks very much like it, Phytomyza crassiseta but that is with a ?. http://micropics....siseta.htm I do have a species of Veronica in my garden which is host plant to that species. Is it possible to say which species this is? Thanks! 2 pics. Janet blowave attached the following image: [123.65Kb] http://cubits.org... |

Hi Janet, after photographs it is not possible determine genus reliably. On http://micropics....siseta.htm is probably female Aulagromyza sp., no Phytomyza crassiseta. Miloš |

Thanks Miloš, I guess that means no genus is possible? Do you know what Napomyza carotae looks like? I was searching for Napomyza lateralis as there was a similarity to that species on micropics. I found N. carotae on this site which I must have as my carrots are mined both on the outside as well as down the centre! I know I have Psilia rosae but I didn't know there was another fly which attacks carrots! http://cubits.org... |
