 UK Tachinidae Brachicheta strigata

UK, Suffolk, 1st April 2010, size 8mm approx Using Belshaw, this keys out as Brachicheta strigata ? - vertex 2x eye width, middle tibia with 2 or more long antero-dorsal bristles, back of head with some dark hairs, parafacial area without hairs, facial ridge with line of bristles, femora dark brown, abdomen with light grey markings, parafacial area without bristles, medial vein angled, no petiole, no line of hairs on R4+5 or R1, eyes only microscopically hairy, arista bare. Certainly looks good to me - a rare species here so would be nice to check out the specimen

Yes, it could just be that they are very under-recorded due to the unfortunately combination of size and flight time ... and the fact that they are tachinids and some people think they are "difficult" ... a fallacy that I am trying to overturn
