Wink

Approx. 5mm long, we have 4 species of which one is extremely rare. E. funeralis, ornatus, sabulonum, strigatus. I can't make this one fit any of them.

It surely is Eumerus or have I got that wrong?

Taken in my garden, south of Lincoln UK on 31st August. Old woodlands and heathlands habitat.

2 pics only, I have cropped one of them making a third.

Oh so Cool Gerard! Thank you thank you thank you! Grin

I spent hours looking for a genus, in the end the face profile and antennae suited Eumerus more than any but it wasn't quite right elsewhere!

There are only 12 records here since the year 2000!

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
