Found this midge the other day in Chicago area. Was approx 9mm. Any ideas as to genus....hope for a species.

Sorry, Tom - I won't attempt female chironomids from a British specimen, let alone a US photo. Wink Your best bet is to return to the site and catch some similarly coloured males. Then find a US chironomid specialist to run them through the keys. Good luck!Smile
