Must be Dicranomyia, too (genitalia would help much to suggest a species name). |

Hi Black Thanks for your reply...I didn't collect it, but released it outdoors . I only have a couple of Dicranomyia listed for Shetland (which means nothing), but they are D.didyma and D.mitis should they be recognisable from photo's. Regards Roger |

OK Roger, in didyma wings in addition to stigma have distinct dark subcostal spots, nebulose apex, and dark patches in apical parts of veins a1 and a2, while in mitis (in very similar chorea, and zernyi as well) subcostal spots are small and often indistinct, apex of wing is transparent, and no dark patches in apical parts of veins a1 and a2 (Savchenko, 1985b, p.72). So I'd vote for very widespread mitis. |
