Hi

Another spectacular and very unusual fly. A Cryptocladocera sp. from French Guiana.

Just noticed one of my French Guianan tachinids Grin

After my meeting with Monty this is now Pelecotheca sub-genus Cryptocladocera (male). The females lack the multi-fissicorn antennae but they have a strange apparatus on the end of the abdomen, like a dark, flattened tube. This genus belongs to the tribe Neominthoini, which has many genera with normal antennae.

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
