Can anyone identify this large cranefly? Several were out today in a water meadow looking for mates.

My guess is Tipula lateralis. It is an early species. Cp. http://www.bugsan...tml#TipLat.

I will try to fix the messages this month. We have to make some other configuration changes before software goes out of support at end of year.
