Another one for André. The other species of the day (30/06/2009).
This specimen has an atrophied wing. What is the cause of this? Is there a specific reason or various factors leading to this?

It does look like P. strigatus indeed. But to be sure, I need to look at it closer.
The wing-problem is probably a failure of unfolding after emerging. It can also sometimes happen after contact with some kinds of fluids, like acids. But in this case I think it's bad luck with unfolding the wing. If it is lucky, and you didn't catch it, maybe the wing still was just not finished unfolding...
