Hi, this must be a male. I found it on a wet meadow. Antenna was broken off. Can it be determined? I think it is from subfamily Psychodinae.

It belongs to the Clytocerus ocellaris complex, I am afraid I can't identify the species as the taxonomy of these species is not yet fully resolved.

If I am right, it will also have white to greyish outgrowths on the back of its head and wings clouded dark brown at crossveins and in the vain tips.

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
