Hello,
Can anyone advise, is Pape, T. (1987), The Sarcophagidae (Diptera) of Fennoscandia and Denmark. Fauna Entomologica Scandinavica 19 recommended for identifying UK Sarcophaginae? I am considering buying, but it's ?50, so I don't want it if it is not comprehensive or nearly comprehensive for the UK fauna.

i don't think Pape does cover all GB species but cant remember which if any are missing. another to look at is Pololny & Verves 1997 (comprehensive?) and Steve Falk has produced a cut and paste key for GB species

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
