This is somehow in between Rhagionidae and Therevidae. Maybe a Rhagio sp?

Yes. I do not expect it to be Thereva, but there are too many genera unknown to me in Hungary.

Where was the fly caught? What sort of habitat? Woodland, dunes or river-side?

I did not yet collect the specimen. The habitat was an open oak forest. No rivers within 2o km, and also sand dunes are not characteristic for the very spot.

I wonder whether this could be Cliorismia [Psilocephala] ardea? Does anyone know a Therevidae expert?
