 Hello

This large hoverfly basking in the sun on an edge row. My guess is that it could be Eristalis arbustorum female.

 No, it is tenax. Look at the 'stripes' of hairs over the eyes, for example.

Tried to attach an image to a forum post. jpg, 32kB, 72dpi, no blanks, ... File name is correctly displayed, but when I click "Preview Thread" it just vanishes. Help!
