Hello! Today there sat a Syrphidae in a garden in the Canton of St. Gallen, Switzerland, on a Fuller's teasel, Dipsacus fullonum, with Mildew. Can you identify this fly and its sex, if possible? Thank you, Xaver |

Thoracic and abdominal pattern are characteristic of Myathropa florea. Judging from the tip of the abdomen (rather rounded terminal segment) I would say a male.
