 Yesterday I took this pic near Luebeck in Northern Germany. Many of these were visiting blooming Achillea millefolium & similar - any idea as to its ID?

 Hello Chris,

Welcome to the site.

Your fly is Episyrphus balteatus (Syrphidae, hence I moved it to the correct forum) and last two weeks I have seen it incredibly common in the extreme south of the Netherlands where we were camping. They appeared to be very anxious to enter our tent to let us know that they were all around.

Tried to attach an image to a forum post. jpg, 32kB, 72dpi, no blanks, ... File name is correctly displayed, but when I click "Preview Thread" it just vanishes. Help!
