Hello! First of all sorry for the the (only) bad picture. But is a genus ID possible? Last week in our garden (northwest Germany), only about 4 mm. Juergen Peters attached the following image: [54.59Kb] Best regards, Jürgen -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Juergen Peters Borgholzhausen, Germany WWW: http://insektenfo... -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= |

Strange shimmer by flash... Anyway, looks like a Cheilosia vernalis to me. Those can be very small sometimes (but 4mm is somewhat too small, may be more like about 6mm?). |

Thanks a lot! 6 mm may be possible, but anyway then it was (one of) the smallest Cheilosia I've ever seen...
