A nice early Spring Syrphid. I never saw this species with the red abdomen before. Can anyone help with the ID? I wish the photographs were sharper but I wasn't able to get close and two photos were all my subject would allow. West Virginia USA forest, 5 April 2009. Xylotini, maybe Xylota sp. itself. Wait for some USofA-specialists. |
