Hi, there was few of these on a very small aquilegia opening bud, some looked like they could be males but some with a fat abdomen look like females. I wasn't actually taking a pic of them as I didn't see them for a start, they must be no more than 3-4mm long. On 6TH May, Lincoln UK. Thanks Janet blowave attached the following image: [67.06Kb] |

I have been researching, and found there are three species of Diptera Leafminers which utilise Aquilegia in Britain, as there are males and females on Aquilega it is reasonable to think it is one of those. http://www.ukflym...LEGIA.html I recognise the type of mining as shown for Phytomyza minuscula, does anyone have a description of this as well as Phytomyza aquilegiae?
