Hello!

This (for its family) rather large (11-12 mm) fly visited a sugar/pear/banana/red wine-bait in our garden (northwest Germany) on August-31. At first I thought of a Scatophagid or Heleomyzid, but looking at the antennae I think it must be a Sciomyzid, too. Is a closer ID possible? Thanks!

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
