This photo resembles the Neoempheria striata/proxima photo in the gallery (Mycetophilidae). I found in Bilthoven (Netherlands). Is it possible to say anything more positive?

I hope you kept the specimen. It looks like Neoempheria lineola, which was so far not recorded from the Netherlands.

I'm sorry, I let it fly after having made some photos. It was my first Mycetophilidae ever and I didn't know it was rare.

Fortunately, I won't have to go far. I found it in my kitchen. I'll keep my eyes open for another specimen.

Kind regards

It was confirmed as Neoempheria striata by Jan ?evčik:
Dear Paul, it is a male of Neoempheria striata (Meigen, 1818). Dark antennae and colour pattern on tergites are distinctive. Jan

Not new to the Netherlands...

A bit late, but nevertheless . . . thanks, Paul!

PS. I missed the last reply. So, I have been thinking for more than a year that I had found something unique.

Kind regards
