is this the male of "my silver fly" postet today?
Foto: Switzerland, Wattwil SG, 750m NN, 30.06.05
it looks a little bit different to the fly postet by elck, 6.6.05

No, these are definitely different species. The female has dark femora, this one has yellowish femora. In my (Dutch) key this one would run to C. asiliformis (= C. aureus) but in my recollection the hairs on the mesonotum do not give such a golden shine in that species. Maybe there is another, similar species of Chrysopilus in Switzerland. I do not have the necessary keys and checklist here.

Same reply, too golden, femora yellowish. Additionally, these two images may be of different species. Do you have a shot of the second one that shows the wing better? I will try to find out more. Smile
